Curious as I am not sure and I'm about to order a laptop.

I don't know that any do, or ever will. I am not sure if it will work on anything less than HD 4000. It is not clear to me.

So far, there is an app for AP at SETI@HOME. It's in open testing now. Maybe someone there is using HD 3000? You could ask in the thread. (http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/forum_thread.php?id=70717)

Also, I believe Slicker is working on an app for collatz.

That is all the Intel HD apps that I know of so far.

Edit: According to Intel (http://software.intel.com/en-us/articles/opencl-release-notes/#2), "Intel® HD Graphics supports OpenCL* only on the 3rd Generation Intel® Core™ Processors with the Intel® HD Graphics 4000/2500." I think that means Ivy Bridge or later. HD 3000 was for Sandy Bridge (previous gen), I believe.

What about overheating? Is this going to be an issue?

I have been running GPU tasks on my extremely compact CPU cruncher for about a month now. No problems so far.
