I am the top user in RNA today for the team. I'm the only user in RNA today for the team. There's a lot of people gaining on us. So, if you need to make a milestone or just want to help keep us in 13th after Sic* passes us, head on down to RNA.

I'm doing all I can. This screen shot is from a day ago. So add about another 24 hours to each task. Fingers crossed that there is no power glitch, since there is no checkpointing. ;) yoyo said that these big tasks pay double, so I am very interested to see what will be awarded!

Something about that doesn't look right. The longest one I've had so far is 14 hours. Have any of those that are that long finished for you? Do they really make them that big? That's insane.

Yes, this is normal. Most tasks are very short. But something like 1 in 500 are these super long tasks. Run it exclusively for a wile and you will end up with one running on each core.

I ran this before, but never had tasks like that. How intense is the computing? If it won't hurt my older systems, I could switch some cores over.

The rare but inevitable tasks can take up to 1.2gb each. So keep that in mind.

I am now running RNA. I am ranked at #42 out of 52 with BOINCstats. They list 1077 credits, while RNA lists 1528 credits. I have been running it for less than 24 hours with Spinhenge, WUProp, and FreeHal.

An hour or so ago, Spinhenge WUs finished so I will be crunching RNA solo for a day or so before I add another project to my quad's queue. I will see how much this quad can do with RNA alone, during my normal computer use.

The current crop of WUs are estimated at 44 minutes to 5 hours. Crunching it with a Phenom 9650 @ 2.3GHz, it takes about those times, or less.

No checkpoint and it will run for 500 hours? Man that is some risk.

Lol, took me a while to realize this was an old thread.

Nice necro posting :)

Not any more. Those mega-tasks are all done and out of the system.

Were the credits worth it?

Were the credits worth it?

Sure. They got me to my 1M MM. In general, RNA pays about 1.5-2x claimed.

Gratz on that btw!

I wasn't exactly clear on what I was asking. You mentioned earlier in the thread that the long tasks give double credit. Is that double the normal credit of 1.5-2x for normal tasks? So is that 3-4x claimed credit for long tasks?

Just wondering if I should take the risk on the long tasks or not when I start crunching RNA. I normally wouldn't care, but no checkpointing for 500 hours...

Yes, the mega tasks paid 3-4x claimed. But like I said, there are no more of those mega tasks. All gone. The current tasks run from a few minutes to around 3 days max.

I am running a RNA right now, and a few hours ago it was 60%+/- done after over 50 hours. Now it is 60+hours and the figure is back down to about 7% completed, 137 to go.

I am confused about why it went from 60% then back down to 7%. I do not have any other RNA work asked for, so it must be a Mega project.

But why the completed slip from 60% to 7% after 50+ hours processed/crunched/etc..

I wonder how long it will truly take. The Math makes it 35 days or so to complete the monster, instead of another 3 days or so it would have been this morning.
