View Full Version : PrimeGrid: Bonus Credit for Select Sub-Projects
In order to encourage greater participation in certain, less popular, sub-projects, we're experimenting with granting a credit bonus to select sub-projects.Please see Bonus Credit Epxeriment (http://www.primegrid.com/forum_thread.php?id=5141) for details.

Perfect timing. I just started pushing all the sub projects at PG, for 5k hours for each app.
I am on almost all projects for PG, so this works. :)

What's the best PG sub-project for us CPU crunchers? I wondering if it is worth the effort, even with the bonuses, when only using CPUs.

It looks like they are trying to get the CPU people to crunch more of the longer WU's.

From what i recall, the sieve tasks paid so much better than the LLR tasks they're giving bonuses to, i'm pretty sure if you stuck with PPS or 321 sieves, you'd be getting more credits than anything that was given a bonus. Though i could be wrong since i haven't run CPU tasks there in close to 2 years, with exception of SG5

Here is the thing:
LLR is all 32 bit. No help running on 64 bit OS. However, sieve runs 1.5-2x on 64 bit OS. So credits are better with sieve. However, it takes 2x the credits for sieve project badges.

I'm confused...I see 64bit applications for all PG sub-projects except Genefer.

There is a good chance that those 64-bit apps are really just renamed versions of the 32-bit apps. That way, if a person has the "no alt platforms" enabled, they can still crunch that app. That's often done with the GPU apps since the GPU drivers are really only 32-bit, even if installed on a 64-bit OS. The 64-bit support is all emulated and for AMDs drivers, not very well (errors and/or crashes using ulonglong variable types -- at least with the Collatz app anyway)

Right. The LLR apps are really all 32 bit.
