What an excellent and clear public protest, well reasoned and easy to understand. Definitely worth the time to read.

Excellent indeed. Only problem is it's written to the most arrogant, narcissistic, divisive, pathological liar to ever sit in the White House. He couldn't care less about your Constitutional or any other freedoms.

The writer lost me at the 3rd vote for Obama. You didn't figure it out in the 1st term?

Very good article zombie67 only two things I don't consider quite right that changes are slow. They only are very very slow when politicians and military lose power. On 11 September changes to give power to politicians and the complex military-industrial were very fast. The second is about nationality, I don't think that one guy is suspect of terrorism because he is not American.

Unfortunately Snowden affair was very badly conducted. Every nation spies everyone all the time according to their technological development, if they don't spy more is because they cant or have no means to do it. We are in a cynical world, Russia spies and make much more bad things to their citizens and now is pretending to be a like a virgin, well they aren't.

Every government is a big slut and the promises on the electoral campaign are forgotten since they arrive to power and every citizen struggling for their own rights is a dangerous criminal.

Even the journalist are being menaced on a fascist attack on press freedom and the politicians protect themselves on terrorist laws made on a time of public panic, they are using our fear against us.

Snowden affair is the tip of the iceberg, a lot of innocent persons were jailed, deported or killed because they were seemed or had similar names with terrorists and they don't have to say they were sorry because the anti-terrorist law gives them that right.

The problem is in that law. The law gives power to people that have no scruples and lost any sense of decency.

I am sorry for the my words on this issue but I have long thought to make a post about this, it costs me a lot that the USA that could and should be the main bastion of freedom is so lost and the citizens are in silence about something so important.

Or so I think.

Now they will send me to Guantanamo and the crime will be a difference of opinion. Yeha, I know words are dangerous.

Unfortunately, many Americans are too stupid and/or too inept to comprehend all that has been happening for the last 20 years or so. Since the rise of the internet, there has been a inexorable push by varying groups like Corporate America, Government, Socialists, etc, to remove all sense of individualism in America. Bottom line is this effort is about control, and specifically control of information. And as we all should know, information is power.

But since most Americans would rather Keep Up with the Kardashians, Brittiny Spears & Paris Hilton, then pay attention to the world around them, we have the America that they allow others to fashion for us.

Welcome to the New World Order...

My sentiments exactly. Let me tell you what is happening at the other side of the pond. Monkey see, monkey do. We tried at first to legislate a law that compelled all ISP's to release information from their data base to Government Agencies. This was defeated in the end for the High Court ruled that it is unconstitutional although certain section of the law was allowed and in essence it is like having to prove the necessity to access only individual data on court order. The next thing they tried was illegal phone taping. This also backfired on them and because it was illegal Agents were actually charged and convicted of carrying out an illegal activity. Now let us look at the other side of the story. Criminals now have access to High Tech listening devices and all you have to do is sit in your car outside of your house and listen in to your telephone conversation. Soon you will have sufficient info to discover all they need to take over your identity and take your life savings. It is legal to sell this kind of listening devices even though it is not legal to use it.

As regards the Internet, the Government now have a new idea of how to legally listen in. In Australia all Broadband activity is in the hands of Telstra which is partly owned by the Government and Optus a Singapore entity. The Government is in the process of rolling out a national Broadband network promising to be cheaper and faster than any other network. Since they will own the network, they have all the rights to monitor any activity they wish.

We are half way through an election campaign and we will be voting in a new Government in two weeks time. The interest is so great from the locals that even the TV network are no longer interested seeing politicians kissing babies and are more interested in sport, so that is what the news half hour is all about. 5 minutes news, 15 minutes of advertising and 10 minutes of sport. The poor weather girls or guy needs to be specially trained to speak so fast as to be wondering what language they are speaking and we just watch it on the screen.

I would only put all the world peoples where you write Americans. That is so true but it is the same in Portugal, Brazil, Egypt and the all world.

You see F$ the world is all connected with Internet and Kardashians, Brittiny Spears & Paris Hilton are everywhere and stupidity is much more common than we wish.

Once they have control, they can also suppress outside sources which do not match their views. That's exactly what China does. They block access to all sorts of IP addresses because the data is deemed inappropriate for their citizens. If the citizens never read anything bad about their government, it makes them much more manageable.
