Hello everyone,
I just joined a couple of days ago and I'm very excited about this project.
I have a lot of questions about what are the credits for/about, and what does the average credit mean?
I am looking forward to donating as much time as possible to running anything that is assigned to me.
I love just watching the screen saver. :D

Sweet! Always love getting new team mates. :). Two thumbs up for all you are donating to science with BOINC crunching.
Well, the credits are a way to measure how much work your computer has done. The average credits are based on time, so they will go up and then plateau as your computer stays at a high rate of computations for a period of time. Hope that helps a little bit and welcome to the team!

Welcome to the team :) We do not assign anything here. You are completely free to do as you wish. However, we do often enter many competitions throughout the year, some more important than others, and you are welcome to join us on as many of them as you'd like, or none at all. Though they can be quite fun :)

Your Recent Average Credit (RAC) is the average amount of credit (Cobblestones, technically) earned at a project (or in all projects combined) per day. For this number to be accurate, you need to run a project full-time for at least 1 week.

average credit, or RAC refers to the number of credits awarded per day (more or less) that your computers are contributing. The credits useless except for bragging rights. So, now is the time to decide whether to contribute because a) you like what a project is doing, b) you want to kick butts and take names and beat others in total credit, or c) some combination of the two. We really don't care which approach you take. The team appreciates the credits either way. If you crunch more than one project, you do have to join the team for each project. You will also find that not everyone on this team crunches SETI. I won't go into the details on why other than those that don't are not doing it for option "a" above. Lastly, the screen saver requires CPU and GPU resources in order to display. That means either that you are detracting from the science you are contributing to the project or you are getting fewer credits per day (lower average credits) than you could be getting if you used "blank screen" instead of a graphical screen saver. I'm just saying....

How do you get rid of the screen saver? I want my computer to be used for projects, not picutes for me...:)

How do I remove the screen saver?

You can click on an open part of your screen and go to properties. Then under screen saver, you can change it to blank or none. That will free up your CPU cycles to be used for your projects. Welcome to the team!

I was able to get rid of the screen saver, but I had to go thru the control panel to do it. Thank you for the info to get me started. :)
