I don't feel good about hacking proprietary hardware, but as long as it's for science, I'll throw a dual core on it.

I was getting about 2k/hour on an AMDx6 at 3.2GHz...

I have run 6 wu's on my i7-920. 4 finished with an avg run of 2,905.11 seconds for 115 stones each. The other 2 errored out.

To be clear, my 290 c/h was per core. Not per CPU.

Whoops. Looks like they just increased the running time with the new tasks. The credits increased too, from 29 to 115. Ah well. Credits are still very good, but no longer crazy stupid awesome. Tthe early adopters won a bonus this time. ;)

There apparently is no checkpointing. I stopped boinc about halfway through some tasks to remove my Primegrid app_info file. Started boinc back up Droid is back to 0. They're no going very fast. I hope the credits are worth it.

Hmmm...what OS and CPU are you using? On an AMD PhenomII 810 quad core O/C @ 3GHz, running Windows 7 64bit, mine are showing about 25% completed after only 9 mins!

EDIT: The O/Ced AthlonII quad @ 3.6GHz is doing even better - 50% after only 14.5 mins!

zombie67
01-21-11, 01:12 AM
Just to be clear. Up until the release of the new app about 6 hours ago, tasks ran about 5 minutes and paid 29 credits. It looks like the project has since released tasks that run much longer, and pay 115. So you can tell which tasks you have by what they pay.

If you're talking to me, Gentoo Linux, of course. 64bit dual core running at 1.8GHz.

I to am getting validate errors. And one of my P4s cannot crunch it at all. Every wu gives a computation error after 1 or 2 seconds of crunching. :((

Yeah, the linux app is not baked yet. That's why I said, "Put your windows machines on this project." Even the windows app spits out the occasional validation error. But with the crazy credits this this was paying, it was well worth it.

Yeah these new long WUs arent paying as much. Looks like Primegrid PPS Sieve is still the best for 64 bit CPU.

Also, DNET is trying to bruteforce a 72 bit key and it's 1.3% complete right now. This project is trying a 1024 bit key! I hope they're not bruteforcing too, this could take a while lawl.

That is what they said. But since then, the credits have dropped significantly. The task run time has increased, and so has the credits awarded. But not by as much. So we are making less c/h now. Still very good! But not as good as it was.

I must concede, you have finally found me a CPU project that perhaps pays better than AQUA. It looks like it will, I just want to run it a few days before I give it the crown. ;)

I may just have the perfect combination of hardware and software for this project, (AMD Quads running Win7 64bit), but I have no errors or invalid WUs since 10PM last night. So, in 12 hours, my 2 quads have pumped out over 20K credits. That's pretty huge for CPU power.

We could dominate this project if some of the big CPU crunchers like Hankey, Mumps, CB, Dr. Bob, etc...could get a quick jump on it. (If they want to, of course). With the crazy CPU power this team has, it could be a nice #1 for us.

I seem to be having major problems with this project I have been crunching on 16 cores for hours and have only gotten a little over 500 credits. :(

Looking into the issues further and remembering someone saying there are no recovery points, I found the problem. I had WU's running for over 6 hours and were only half way done.

I set the CPU usage restrictions from their default 25% to 0 and it looks like this is going to solve the problem.

Bizarre. Here is my i7 windows machine:

http://androinc.net/results.php?hostid=224&offset=0&show_names=0&state=3&appid=

For the 29 credit tasks, it is making over 200 c/h , and for the 115 credit tasks, it is making over 100 c/h.

I wonder if you are being hit by that "pause if CPU usage gets over 25%" setting?

DrPop

I just did the math on mine. 38+K for the day yesterday, divided by 2 quad core CPUs = ~200 credits/hour per core. I'll let you know if it can sustain that over the next few days...

PG PPS = 365 c/h on my i7 950 and 3.06 GHz vs 2.67 GHz on your i7 920 isn't 80% faster, I think I'll stay on PG for now.

That would be my guess too. I had to change all of my rigs from the 25% to 0; my returns prior to that were rather pathetic to say the least.

STMahlberg
01-24-11, 11:23 AM
You guys got me thinking, so I did some quick calculations using the validated WU's from Androinc. For yesterday all completed tasks returned 40,022 credits so that would be 1667 per hour. Not too bad I guess if you figure it that way.

Now on a credit per hour per core basis... that's a little different. 40,022/24/23 = 72 credits per core per hour. :( But that's an average and "average" is for L-)'s.

I expect this to go up a little since I didn't get my new rig online until around 0800 hours.

DrPop
