I am looking into the possibility of upgrading the thermal pads that are in my video card that cool the memory and such, what are your guy's thoughts on that? I currently use some artic compound for the gpu, and on the AMD cards, it helps a lot to reduce the temps (and thus noise) and now i want to try also getting better thermal transfer for some of the other components.

Arctic Silver 5 is still my preferred TIM. Now when you say other components, do you mean thems other parts on the GPU's circuit board? For IC sized heatsinks, the best Thermal Transfer tape is 3M's 88xx family. Have a look see (Here (http://solutions.3m.com/wps/portal/3M/en_US/Electronics_NA/Electronics/Products/Product_Catalog/~?rt=com&R=8449035+8449676+8449616+8449413))

Need pads in Tank's case though. The thickness of them has to be what it is to contact anything. They're also found behind backplates on GPUs.

Oh your talking OEM. I was in mind of aftermarket coolers. It's also normally true that if a GPU has the luxury of an installed backplate then most likely the maker has included some form of heatsink for most of the heat generating parts.

So like yeah, thermal conductive pads. Think Fujipoly! Fujipoly Premium (http://www.frozencpu.com/cat/l3/g8/c487/s1292/list/p1/Thermal_Interface-Thermal_Pads_Tape-Premium_Thermal_Pads-Page1.html) or Fujipoly Extreme (http://www.frozencpu.com/cat/l3/g8/c487/s1730/list/p1/Thermal_Interface-Thermal_Pads_Tape-Extreme_Thermal_Pads-Page1.html) or Fujipoly Ultra Extreme (http://www.frozencpu.com/cat/l3/g8/c487/s1797/list/p1/Thermal_Interface-Thermal_Pads_Tape-Ultra_Extreme_Thermal_Pads-Page1.html)
