I have a 24" iMac that is free to any team mates who will also use it to crunch for the team.

Specifically, it is the 24-inch iMac (MB419LL/A).
24-inch glossy widescreen TFT active-matrix LCD, 1920 by 1200 pixels
2.93GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
NVIDIA GeForce GT 120 with 256MB of GDDR3 memory
8gb RAM
640gb HD
The catch: I don't have the original packaging. So shipping is probably out of the question. I am in the bay area.

Put it in a plastic bag, seal it with a twist tie, and the use expanding spray foam to fill the space between the bag and the box creating a perfect shock proof mold. I've done that with laptops and monitors in the past. $10 worth of spray foam and a $0.30 plastic bag and it will be protected better than bubble wrap or corn starch peanuts.
I would love to have a Mac as I said before for some other projects I am working in for cross-compiling. If you can figure out boxing I'll pay for whatever shipping is needed. And let it crunch for the team.

This sounds interesting! Where to source a box that it will fit into? Any ideas?
Bok: If I can get Slicker's idea to work, it's yours.

The expanding foam is really sticky so you want to make sure the plastic bag doesn't have any holes in it. Also, the foam can exert a lot of pressure so make sure there is a place for it to escape. In other words, don't close box and the try and fill it via sticking the straw into a corner.
Once dried, just use a bread knife to shave off any excess foam.
I've also seen it done where the foam was squirted into a plastic bag, then the monitor placed on top, and another bag is then filled with more expanding foam and placed on top of that to create a monitor sandwich of sorts. The local Walmart, Target, etc. probably has some large boxes you can get a hold of for free.
