Hi. I will be crunching, thank you! There, JPM, that is the extent of my plans that I would like the world to know at the moment. :D :D :D

Oh, are we doing this again?

Are they gonna split everyone up by horoscope like 2 years ago or is it team vs. team this time ?

That's the Space Race challenge. The Pentathlon is purely a team effort.

Oh, are we doing this again? Well of course! The world would be quite upset with us if we didn't show up for this :p

Pentathlon breakdown:

Begins May 4th at 8PM eastern/5PM Pacific and lasts 2 weeks.

There are 5 "Disciplines".
1 Discipline, called the "Marathon", is a project that runs the entire 2 weeks of the Pentathlon. This is most likely a CPU-only project.
1 other Discipline, called "Sprint", runs for 3 days and is meant for GPU crunching. Which 3 days it will run is not known until 3 days before it's time to run it.
The other 3 Disciplines are all CPU and are all run for 5 days each and each is announced 5 days before it's time to run it.

Bunkering is encouraged but not required.

As you can see, there will be alot of overlapping and simultaneous distribution of crunching resources going on. If you plan to be away for this event, may i suggest setting your computers to simply crunch the Marathon Discipline. This will assist the rest of us by allowing us to focus more on the ever-changing competitive environment.

As always, i thank you very much for your participation and crunch on! **==

If anyone would like to join this forum for the first time and crunch the Pentathlon for SETI.USA, now's a good time to do it because I'm giving away 13 days of free crunching to the first person who accepts this offer. I will be crunching only Pentathlon projects (http://www.seti-germany.de/boinc_pentathlon/25_en_Disciplines.html) from May 5 to May 19. Click the link in my signature for details. :)

just so you know JPM, I will probably will just run the marathon. I just have too much going on, like a trip to SC for a graduation on the 17th. I hope I can help a little on some GPU but we will have to wait and see.

Those of you who believe that the organisers might make it easier for the teams in view of the special anniversary, will be mistaken. Once again, the gods demand sweat, ruined graphic cards, unstable power packs and high electricity costs ahead of the triumph. Once again, teams are facing hard times and only those who sail close to the wind will in the end bring home victory. But Poseidon warns: there will be lots of headwind and high waves, masts will snap, crunch machines fall overboard and here and there, teams will lose their bearings; hopefully, none will come ashore near the Cyclops.

You will surely ask yourselves: Who will be able to prevent P3D achieve a hattrick? Will SETI.USA succeed in claiming overall victory at last? Will Team China win their first medal this year?

Dun dun dunnnnn :p
