Just had a 560ti 2win card fail out on me and wonder what the best bang for buck in Video Cards is these days?

Just credit per hour? Or does power consumption matter to you?

Just credit per hour. Power consumption is not an issue.

Heh. Waiting for JPM to jump in. I was asking for clarification, to give him more info to work with. ;)

GTX 570s and 560ti are going for ~$100 on e-bay.
It would be super hard to beat a 7970 for the money and especially a 7970 GHz edition if you can get one for a similar price as the standard model. Credits per $ output and both credits per watt output it is up near the top, and cost a lot less up front than a more recent top end 290X or Titan, etc.

Oh umm....what DrPop said :p Tough to beat a 7970 for the versatility

So does $250 sound like a reasonable price point for a 7970.
Should be able to pick up a used one for around $200. Here's a listing for 3 at less than that: http://www.ebay.com/itm/SAPPHIRE-7970-DUAL-X-VIDEO-CARD-GPU-/271469521554?pt=PCC_Video_TV_Cards&hash=item3f34d82a92
Otherwise, a new 280X is probably your best bet for Single Precision/Double Precision flexibility. They start around $300.
Nvidia folks might have more to say on this...

Hmmm. Wonder if that would get here by the sprint discipline of the pentathlon. ...

Turned out i'm not getting mine ;( Seller cancelled the sale, saying it was listed by accident as a duplicate. Did a search and found he relisted it for almost $200 more. Bleh

That really blows! It seems to be the trend with ebay sellers now. I've had 4 auctions cancel a few minutes before ending, 3 to be outbid on at the last minute then re-listed and 1 cancel after I won....all within the last 2 months. One of the items I bid on and would of won a month ago, is currently re-listed again with the words "all sales final" in bold print on the listing. I have to wonder about those sellers that love to cancel sales....what is it besides greed that is driving them to "pretend" to sell stuff. I've given up on ebay for finding a mate to my HD 5770 at a reasonable price....at least for now.

Complain to the powers that be at EBAy.
Give him a shitty review whatever you have to do to shame the bastard!
People do stuff like that because most people roll over and go away without making a fuss.

Yeah, what he said.
I agree. If you can see the relisting, so can Ebay

We just had a couple of relatively hot days (Oregon), and when I walk into the computer room I hear whispers of maxwell...maxwell...
IMO bang for the buck includes your power bill if its a cruncher, I saw some 750ti for ~$100 on ebay. Performance wise they're not all-stars but for 60-70watts they're amazingly efficient compared to the rest of the available gpus.
Here is the gtx 570 wuprop link: http://wuprop.boinc-af.org/results/gpu.py?fabricant=NVIDIA&type=GeForce+500+Series&modele=GeForce+GTX+570&tri=projet&sort=asc
And the gtx 750ti wuprop link: http://wuprop.boinc-af.org/results/gpu.py?fabricant=NVIDIA&type=GeForce+700+Series&modele=GeForce+GTX+750+Ti+&tri=projet&sort=asc
They're very close but there's not much data for 750ti yet but if you look at the graphs (solo collatz for example) theres plenty to establish an average.
The gtx 570 uses 330w at load and the 750ti 68w peak. Where I live power ranges from 8c-15c a kw depending on the time of of day, i don't feel like doing a weighted average of 3 different rates of varying length so let's just say its 12c/kwatt for this comparison.
330w @ 12c/KW = .330 x .12 = ~4c/Hr to run a gtx 570 (this does not include any heat management that may consume more electricity, AC, fans)
68w @ 12c/KW = ~.008c/Hr to run
it costs ~3c more an hour to run a gtx 570 than a gtx 750 ti.
If you crunch 24/7 with it that's a savings of 21.6 dollars a month. 3c per hour x 24hrs x 30days = $21.6 per month
In my opinion the savings will be even greater per month than that, that or be less comfortable this summer. My opinion is that the gtx 750 ti is the best bang for the buck when considered in 24/7 crunching/mining.

Alright 7990 on the way for sure this time. Hopefully i'll have it by thursday. I'll be installing it in my socket 775 Q9550 system, which i also ordered a new super elite top-end motherboard for, after searching nearly a year for it:
Gigabyte GA-X48-DQ6
