BOINC v7.4.12 with VBox

Anybody else trying this & if so are you getting an error message about VBox not installing. Programs Installed show the Proper VBox installed though ... ???

I've never installed the combined package. I install BOINC and vbox individually.

I have read elsewhere that the joint BOINC-VBox installation should be avoided. It was the writer's opinion that VBox should be installed and updated directly from https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads and the BOINC Manager, of course, from http://boinc.berkeley.edu/dl/. I don't recall the rationale for the opinion, nor do I know if this procedure would eliminate the error message you report.

I don't see a VBox.exe by it's self, it's either a BOINC exe or a BOINC exe with Vbox ?

You have to get VBox by itself directly from Virtual Box. See https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads

After installing vbox, be sure to install the Extension Pack. It is on the same DL page as vbox.

whats good about vbox anyways i never did use it

Some Projects require it to run their Wu's but I'm not sure which ones. I just Auto Install it that way if needed I have it ...

i upgraded bionic but not with vbox, i left the vbox fromt he previous install of bionic and get no error msgs

Ditto here on the separate installs. I don't trust DA to get it right.
