how do u like it ? what cpu do u have it on ?
im thinking about one for my fx8320 ive hit a thermal wall at 4.5ghz with the stock cooler that has been lapped along with a lapped cpu and as5.
its 40 bucks to buy one roughly , good choice for me ? or should i hold off and try one of the all in one 60-80$ water coolers

very open to suggestions i just need to keep it osmewhat reasonable as money is really damn tight right now, all i care about is performance , noise does not bother me one bit

I've got one on one of my 3770k's and it works fine oced to 4.4ghz. Will it cool your FX at the clocks you want to run 24/7? I'd say no. Then again, I would've bet you'd never get an FX to 4.5 on a stock cooler.

technically i cant really say 4.5ghz as i cant use all 8 cores at that speed 4.3/4.4 is as far as i can go and use all 8 cores without me staring to worry about cpu temps i start to worry at about 54/55*c so about 5/6*c before max

my delimea is the evo 212 is cheap , but may not be enough to cool , and with so many choices in the all in one water coolers that starts at 60$'s and go up i have no idea how they would compare.
i should have just enough spare cash i can spend shortly so id like to narrow something down i guess worse comes to worse just grab the evo 212 and go as far as i can safley with it , and then just run that until i have the money i can spend again and just go after something better at that time

I believe the max temp for the fx is 61 or 62c. I ran all 8 cores of my 8150 @ 4.5, 24/7 for a year and a half without a problem at 57 - 58c with a Noctua cooler. The Noctua actually replaced the Hyper 212 EVO because the evo couldn't cool all 8 cores on some of the more taxing projects.

Edit: though Vishera was an improvement over Bulldozer, I don't see you gaining much crunching speed by going over 4.5ghz.

what noctua cooler? , from what ive read 60*c is the max for 24/7 use and 62*c will cause it to shut down
i may just have to stick it at 4.5ghz and call it good then

I had mine up to 72c during Prime95 testing and it never shut down due to heat.

Just turn the temp monitors off, that's what I do and I sleep much better. ;) You're right, the Noctua isn't cheap, but as far as air cooling goes, it doesn't get much better.

I will say one thing about my 8150, it did hold it's value. I paid $199, ran it hard for 2 years and just sold it for $125...replaced it with a 3770k.

i think i paid 98$'s for mine brand new lol , i think if i am going to spend that much ill save up a lil longer and get a water cooler, just so many options and it confuses me even more , cant we just go back to 1998 when computer stuff was much simpler lol

installed a evo 212 + on the new machine today allsi can say is i wish i knew if it would work this good on the fx 9xxx series
100% load temps with the stock amd cooler were just shy of the danger zone at 58*c at stock speed
100% load temps witht he evo are now 35*c max with the fan still basically at idle speed at an 4.4ghz overclock

might have to get another evo to put on my a8 machine so i can throw an even bigger oc on that
