I know how to block a ip on windows 7 to bunker. But I now have a machine running on vista and cannot figure out how to block a ip address. It would be nice if I could block it with my router which is a asus rt-n66u but I can only see how to block urls with it. Can someone help me out?

See if your router has a "parental" control feature ... mine does. You can block "keywords" like POGS and it will stop all communications with anything that has POGS in the URL.

Try blocking the master URL for the project ... that may or may not help w/ UL/DL. In the BOINC client_state file do a search on the project name and in that section it shows the master url address.

I'm afraid I don't have Vista and it has been too long since I did any traffic rules to remember how it is done.

Its not a quick explanation but this article (http://www.techrepublic.com/article/tap-into-the-vista-firewalls-advanced-configuration-features/) should help you get to where you can set up rules in Vista. This should get you a similar screen like Win7 has for setting up rules. Details for setup can be found in Bunkering 101 (http://www.setiusa.us/showthread.php?3446-BUNKERING-101).

Good luck!

I got it working by just blocking any website with pogs in the title. I can't even open the thread about the pogs on this website!
