Personal Crunching Goals for 2015

I wanted to start a thread where we could all document our crunching goals for the upcoming year. Then, I'd like to periodically return to it to see how we did. Though you can certainly put whatever you want in here, I'd suggest putting down specific, difficult, and quantifiable goals.

1 25k hr star on WUProp
4 10k hr stars on WUProp

I don't really have any specific project goals i can name that i know won't change 100 times before the end (or the start) of next year. But my #1 goal i have right now is to build enough additional computers to be able to get 1000 WuProp hours per day in any given project that has the work available :)

Go to Free-DC and dump it into a spreadsheet. Do the same with your wuprop hours (which you can also do from Free-DC is you turn on export).

Then at the end of the year, you can measure your accomplishments. It will also allow you to know how much you contributed to the team's FB achievements. For example, if the team added 20M to WCG, how much of this was you? Now you can figure it out.

But if you don't take that snapshot, no way to know.

Hmmm...and i could've gotten more hours than that but the wife keeps turning of her (my) computer. Ok i guess it's too low then. 2000 hours/day. This is actually pretty steep since to even hit 1000 hours/day will require major electrical upgrades to the house.

2014 Goals to complete:

1. Achieve a 3rd WUProp star (less than 4 hours needed from PG Sierpinski Problem ESP/PSP/SoB) Done!
2. Advance 2nd WUProp star to red (2 hours needed from MW Separation modified fit and 72 hours needed from PG Extended Sierpinski Problem) Done!
3. Get POGS over 1 million (7k to go) Done!
4. Get into the top 1000 in POGS (estimating 24k to go) Done!
5. Lower my average team rank across projects to under 100 (At exactly 100.000 right now) Done!

2015 Goals:

1. NFS to top 50 spot
2. Leiden to top 50 spot
3. MW to 5 million
4. Einstein to 1 million
5. WCG to 500k and team top 100 rank
6. SZDG to 250k (hopefully pass 446k)
7. Cosmo to 250k (hopefully pass 446k)
8. Rosetta to 100k (all active projects over 102,500 essentially as I want all non-active projects at the bottom of my stats page)
9. As many PG badges to silver as possible
10. Add WCG Ebola bronze badge and bump up the others that are active

My main goal is to keep the wife from seeing the electricity bill each month for the entire year.
Also to keep her from recycling my PCs while I'm at the office. b-(

I'd like to get all 5 wuprop stars to Pink. I 'm pretty sure I can do 4, the 5th may be a bit of a stretch since I have nothing really close in the 5th star section. Unlike Bryan, I like to over estimate and under produce. I excel at that!

That's an order of magnitude higher than I'm at for anything. I have 50k on one project, 25 on 2, and 10k on 15. A couple days ago, I crossed 500k combined hours all time. When I look at Mumps' stats, I often just shake my head...

well when you look at Mumps, there are very few in the world that doesn't feel like Maxwell. From that stand point we are all in the same boat. :)

We're a quarter of the way through the year. Time to evaluate how you're doing:

Me:
- 3 new 1M projects (goal is 11 this year)
- 10 25k hours projects (goal is 20)
- 20 10k hours projects (goal is 80 [what was I thinking?!?])
- 25M in GPUGrid (goal is 100M, haven't touched this yet)
- ~109M in Collatz (goal is 250M)

WUProp: I kinda screwed this up. For 2015 start, I only included the first 199 apps for some reason. No point in more than 100 anyway at the time, as is showed only 5 stars. Whatever the case, I now have 337 apps, which results in 13 stars. Very close to 14.

I've been knocking out my goals at a steady pace, and adding new ones to keep it interesting. I'll be on Primegrid with CPUs and NVIDIA GPUs for about another month, then steer all GPUs to Einstein while I wrap up SRBase goals and move on to some of the tougher ones like 1M at Rosetta & CAS. Z, it looks like your nemesis may be tied up on SRBASE for about 3 weeks trying to be the first to 100 million on that project. Use that info in your attack plan.

You will wonder how you ever had time to go to work. =))

no retirement is great, as long as you use caution. you need 1 civic thing to do, you need to have some time to help family, and you need to spend the rest of your time doing what you want to do. I spend 7 or so months at the lake doing what ever I want. just do what you want to but control the demands that others make on me.

I didn't have any particular goals, other than to try to take #1 from Ralfy for the 1M MM. We're currently tied for #1. So that's something.

Here are the changes for my stats over the past year:

Mega Milestones:
- It looks like there were 7 new projects this year (that exported stats). The count for all my MMs from 1k through 1M increased by 7.
- My ranks remained the same, except for 1M (from second to tied for first), 100M (from 2nd to 3rd), 500M (from 117th to 60th), 1B (from 49th to 67th).

WUProp:
- At the beginning of the year, they issued only the single badge. So many of us were just working on improving the top 100 apps, because that is all that would show. But once they added multiple badges, many of us scrambled to add/increase the other apps as possible.
- If they issued multiple badges at the start of the year, it would have shown this:

I updated my goals several times throughout the year... but generally hit my marks. I suspended my Einstein 100M goal in order to go for 10M on Albert, which has had steady work for a while. Lately I've been working on 5 year WCG badges, and I have a few other things in mind for 2016. I guess that post should be coming soon :D
