What is everyone's most impressive (for any reason) thing/event of 2014?

Lots of contenders out there, but mine would have to be Tesla's battery factory in Nevada. Will double the world's Li-ion battery production in a single building and won't use any electricity to do it. And add 6500 jobs. Completion expected in 2020. Production begins in 2017. Construction has already begun.

1906 Yes, those are solar panels covering the 1 mile long, quarter mile wide roof :p

Close second is some of the solar improvements that I've been reading about, that would not only allow that factory to supply its own power but supply additional power for the surrounding community grid. My only complaint is we are running into a battery capacity limit right now. Until we get sufficient capacity to store all that "free" energy we will still be reliant on fossil fuels.
