Here is an article about Google's/NASA's new quantum computer. Wasn't it DWAVE that ran the AQUA project on BOINC?

Just look at the Free-DC page for Aqua. The answer to your question is "YES!"

D-Wave's AQUA (Adiabatic Quantum Algorithms) is a research project whose goal is to predict the performance of superconducting adiabatic quantum computers on a variety of hard problems arising in fields ranging from materials science to machine learning. AQUA@home uses Internet-connected computers to help design and analyze quantum computing algorithms, using Quantum Monte Carlo techniques. You can participate by running a free program on your computer. AQUA@home is based at D-Wave Systems Inc., Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada.

Sooooo, Google bought out Aqua's Research and is now calling their own? Like they did all the hard research....????
