Is it possible to hijack a PC in Boinc?

I just discovered that one of my systems was running CSG under the account BlackFox1 on team SETI.USA. Have no clue how that happened unless that system has been hacked and they added it. Anybody see something like that before?

OK...apparently such a user does exist: BlackFox1 joined the forums on 10/18/15, and last posted here on 11/15/15.

How your computer is running one of his or her accounts, I have no idea how that could have happened - maybe some of the gurus could add their ideas on that? But it does look like a real person...

Though it's not out of the realm of possibility, I doubt it was an attempted hijack. Blackfox1 joined the boards, interacted with us, then disappeared like a lot of members. He hasn't been crunching and the credits he put up yesterday were probably yours on CSG. Did you have any trouble changing in back?

I removed the project so I can't look at the account file now, but it could be something as benign as a database corruption at CSG. My 12 year old son has been using this system to play video games under Steam lately. I've put the fear of God in him about downloading or installing anything without my explicit permission but he is 12. I'm scanning that system now.

It isn't a problem ... I know the answer and will let Steve know via PM. He and I did some stuff on a "fake" account a while back and about a month afterwards I transferred the account and credits to BlakcFox1. Apparently Scole still had a machine attached to that account.

EDIT: I guess the moral of the story is that when you are being sneaky you can get bit in the butt =))

I have had Ibers (spanish project that was hacked) sell/hacked my email address from Boinc, b4.

Still fighting that shit, 3 years later.
