Hey Doug, here is an amazing opportunity. When was the last time you kicked some SUSA butt =))

About 3 years ago? I dont remember, sici is just a blurr...hehehehehhehe

Crunch on!

I brought up hydra on NFS s.usa team, since someone entered the team, and my name under pirates...
Bringing back memories of the bad times on the muskeeters... If one remembers...
I wont say anything more, because their are a few teammates here, that told lies, that had me kicked out of Musketeers, and they know whom they are.
I dont like bad times, only good times.. Tis a volunteer outfit yah know...
Thats my thoughts, thank you for listening.

If you're not going to run for SETI.USA, run for Anguillan Pirates. That's Alez's team.

You can crunch under your proper Pirate name if you wish...http://www.piratequiz.com/

Maybe you should run the 14e and 15e applications and we run the 16e ones.
How they are paid:

14e - 36 points
15e - 44 points
16e - 130 points

I will participate as a Scott.

But I will need help. This project is screwed up WRT names.

The name of the (3) apps is different from the name of the (4) names of the projects in the preferences, which is different from the (3) badges. Seriously! How can they have messed this up so bad?

So! I want to work on only my 14e and 15e badges. What are the pref settings for that?

lasieve5f - used for huge factorizations, uses up to 1 GB memory: no

We're all over on the Anguillan Pirates team. That's Alez's team he uses for test projects and such. We're crunching there since that team issued the challenge. That and ...well...pirates get more booty.

More than 1M 15e and 14e wus are ready to be queued. Let's see how the challenge goes. For 16e we can easily go up to 2M wus.

Team changed to Anguillan Pirates. Apps selected for 14e and 15e. Someone send out a reminder in a day or so.

It looks like I have a ship taking on water already. BoincTasks is showing the CPU ratio on my laptop is in the red; it's also showing that the completion time on the 15e and 16e at 60, 108 and 323 days. This laptop has 6GB of RAM and I talked with dcushing this morning and he said it may not be enough but I thought I would give it a try. My other rigs have 8GB and 16GB and those are running fine.

The 14e's on the laptop are also in the red but they are running at 3 hours each. I was considering putting in the cc_config to run the 14e app only but I'm not sure it's worth the effort.

Should I continue to run the 14e's or should I take this ship out of the fray... What say you all?

The 16e WUs require up to 1GB RAM. If your system doesn't have enough physical memory, it will use virtual memory (paging memory in and out of RAM and onto disk) which is horribly slow. If you don't have enough RAM, run the 15e and 14e WUs. They only require up to .5GB RAM. If you want more credit, run 15e as they pay better than the 14e. If you want badges, run both.

Since the 16e pay 3-4X the 14/15e WU then you can reduce the number of threads running 16e so it fits into your available memory. You'll get more credits that way :D

I thought I had 6GB on this thing... I actually have 8GB and only 56% is being used. I killed GoofyGrid and WUProp and that cleared up 6 of the 8 threads. I still have 2 threads running in the red for some reason; however, it's no longer showing ridiculous completion times. Even the 16e say they'll complete in 2.5 hours... so we'll see.

I'm just running NFS for the challenge but I will be more that happy to take any credit or badges I gain. :D

I have seen the problem with GoofyGrid in the past. wuprop is not contributing to the problem, so turn it back on.

There are 2 very fast movers from GridCoin. Neuraminer is doing 30k/hr and the UofS is at 22k. The 1st one will definitely take the top spot and the 2nd one will be right on top of Scole at the end ... hard to predict how that one will finish.

Teamwise, it looks like Gridcoin is running about equal to our output so they will have a hard time overcoming our lead.

@Pete, nice run there :D

Late start due to star chasing, but I am up to 11th place. Not bad! :) I think that is as high as I will go, as everyone above me is crunching at a higher rate.

Can anyone get the comparison graphs to work?

Also, do we have this in the bag already? I have no problem continuing to crunch it. But if it's not needed, I could be working on other goals.

We need to step it up a might. At the current rate (90k vs 45k / hour) GC will overtake us.

I was just looking at it and noticed the same thing. They gained about 700K in the last 16 hours and they still have 60 hours to make up the remaining 2.6 Mil deficit. Easily doable.

My bad... I thought we had this in the bag so I switched over to a pet project. I have everything back on NFS.

Is there anyway to get a hold of the people here that are running NFS and have them join the Anguillan Pirates for the next couple of days?

i.e. Haunted Forest, Enrique Arratia, Carlos Pinho [TSBTs Pirate],...

Looks like GridCoin stepped up the pace.

According to BoincStats they're adding 95,758 credits per hour compared to our 55,422; not enough to close the gap but still.

I think Alez may be off on holiday with no internet access (we urged him to upgrade the firmware on his pirate com-sat link ) so I'll just say thanks for the help! If DDM ever comes back online, I'll certainly help with handing the borg their second team challenge beat down in a row.

Just to share we all had a good challenge and a lot of data has been sieved in both three applications. Per weekend I'll be helping NFS on post-processing 14e integers on my home computer while during week be sieving 14e wus with work and home machines. Need new badges...

We have a set of 750k 16e wus (lasieve5f application) to immediately start crushing and more 2M to come afterwards. Every help is appreciated.

Go to:

https://escatter11.fullerton.edu/nfs/prefs.php?subset=project

and set:

lasieved - app for RSALS subproject, uses less than 0.5 GB memory: no
lasievee - work nearly always available, uses up to 0.5 GB memory: no
lasievef - used for huge factorizations, uses up to 1 GB memory: no
lasieve5f - used for huge factorizations, uses up to 1 GB memory: yes
