Hi guys,
Any idea why the rig with the NV GTX 980 says "Missing GPU" now in BOINC? I'm typing on it so the GPU is working...at least the screen part. ;)
Thanks for any help.

You've been crunching with also, correct? Then, in the middle of that, it decides it's missing? First try a reboot and see what happens.

I've had the same problem and I have it everytime Windows updates. You will have to restart the computer in safe mode and un-install all the nvidia drivers using a driver un-installer like DDU fron Wangard. The link is posted somewhere on the forum but I can't find it right now. It works for me. I just keep the latest Nvidia driver on my desktop and re-install it everytime Win updates. It is a pain but I have mentioned it in the Win 10 preview forums.

Edit....Here is the link to the latest version.

Yea, what he said. If you are running Win 10, beware. I just had my onboard Sound mysteriously start failing this morning thanks to Winders Updates. Couple of reboots and remove device/Search for updated drivers and I thinks it's stable again, but just gotta love those SBD updates M$ now insists on inflicting upon everyone. :(

Thanks guys. I did try the reboot already, no dice there, so I will do the uninstall and reinstall of the drivers. Will let you know how it goes!

Win 7 works great for crunching. Thats why I will never, ever go to win 10.

I don't blame you one bit! Good thinking.

THANK YOU for the advice, finally got done at the office and was able to give it a try. Worked perfect, she's crunching away again. :)

FWIW 99+% of windoze updates are useless for the casual user. Especially so if your windoze machines are dedicated crunchers. I disabled updates long ago and have never had a single problem. IMHO Win10 is nothing but glorified spyware (http://betanews.com/2016/02/06/windows-10-phones-home-a-lot-even-with-all-reporting-and-telemetry-disabled/). If you have read or seen an article from ZDNet about not trusting the above link be aware that the author (Ed Bott) is a bought and paid for windows shill. (http://techrights.org/2008/11/09/ed-bott-laptop-bribe/) Just sayin.
