So, do we join this year? I have one more day to hit one of my milestones and had planned to return to WCG anyway. I guess the way I see it is join and if we decide to hit it, we hit it. If we decide not to run it, we've lost nothing.
Well, I've been camped on WCG for months, but had started sliding away to see if we can't hit first team to 100 Mil on MLC. I still have around 40 days to hit my current goal at WCG, so I could see hanging around, but I'm not going to make as much impact as last year.
I'm already there, so might as well join the challenge.
First four weeks are scored on run time. So this is great for Raspberry Pis. I will at least but my 20 Pi threads on this.
When does it start exactly? It just says Sept 7th. Does that mean 5 PM PDT today?
I did no bunkering, but I am running full steam for now. I am something like 8 years away from a 20 year badge for covid19. So I am working on that until I hit it. After that, we'll see.
Same here, no bunkering. Mostly OpenPandemics and whatever TB I can get.
I thought that teams that are paid (gridcoin) were ineligible?
Ah. Got it.
Are we a lock for the first leg yet?
I think we're in...

Sweet. I am moving my big guns to do important stuff. Still leaving my Pi and Mini farms on WCG.
Can someone recommend the best WCG project for a pair of Intel Xeon E5520 processors?
FYI, WCG is down for about 24 hours. Poor planning to do this during a challenge, IMO.
My cache is only .5 days, so I am sure I will be running out.

My numbers should go up today. WCG just turned on the validators for BETA work and I have gone from 0 validated to 40 pages of valids on that project over night. I was hoping they would hold the validators until the 21st (second round) but it wasn't meant to be. If you're looking for beta work, they are still sending it out this morning and I have 90 new ones to process.
Any idea when the next week of the challenge starts? I'm going in with the fleet on this one, clearing out cobwebs. A ton of Xeons should mean good run times.
Hi Vic, good to hear from you. Looks like you've been busy with exciting stuff.
"At the end of this first week of challenge, the 50 best teams will be invited to the second week of challenge that will take place from Monday, September 21, 2020 to Sunday, September 27, 2020."
My suggestion might be to limit work to a small cache during this week to get trusted on OpenPandemics. There is work for African Rainfall Project and a few TB, but they are always a quorum of 2 and take quite a while to validate.
Perfect, thanks.

I know this is time-based, but would a bunker help? I seem to remember bunkering this last year or the year before which ever it was LOL. But I could be off my rocker

Invitation accepted for week 2, which starts on the 21st. Thanks to everyone participating.
2nd week of the challenge has started. If you're bunkering you can feel free to drop.
I just have my RP4s running now. That is 20 threads x 24 hours, so 480 hours per day. If we start to run short of making the cut this leg, let me know.
I just jumped on board WCG for this tonight. Sorry I don't have a bunker. ;)
Reminder: Until the "Thor" part of the challenge after the main challenge, this part of the challenge is all about hours. So be sure to turn on your hyper-threading/SMT. And if you really want to turn up the production, tell your cc_config that you have double the threads. Doing this also doubles your memory usage, so make sure you have enough. Sure, the crunching times will be half the speed, but it makes no difference so long as they report before the deadline.

So tune it all down as you approach the finish. Note: This may impact the run times of your GPUs for other project tasks.
Dropped a small bunker. Let's do this!
No stats posted yet, but here's the link to the stats page

We need a top 25 finish for this week of the challenge to advance to the 3rd week.

Here is the full top 25. We need to be in this group to be invited to week 3 of Thor.

For some reason I can attach a graphic, so here's the current standings.
So, it looks like we did fine for this week, but we'll need to kick it up a notch for the next one, right? The week of 10 is it?
