OK, I misspoke as usual. My foot is in my mouth again. I got it on the 6th of Nov. but I have the new one coming today thanks to the Egg. I hope this one lasts longer. Crucial said it was a trimming problem and I should power it up but not connect it to a SATA and let it just run for at least 24 hours. It is an MX 500 and the cure didn't work.

Re: New "Deals and Savings" Thread
EVGA 750 Ti FTW Newegg 109.99 after MIR. This is one of the highest clocked 750 Tis you can get:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814487028
Note: This is also one of the 750 Ti cards that uses a 6-pin PCI-e power cable. Good or bad, depending on your setup. Think I might pick one of these up myself
And the EVGA 750 Ti Superclocked 99.99 after MIR. Great card with no PCI-e power cable required.

Hmmm, somehow I missed this post. Sorry.
Anyhoot I strongly recommend that you disable Windows Disk Defragmenter on any system using an SSD.
To disable the service, right-click My Computer and select Manage. In the new window's left column select "Services and Applications". Then in the center column, double-click "Services". Now search for Disk Defragmenter, right-click it and select "Properties". If the service is running press the Stop button to shut it down. Then click the drop down menu for Startup type and select disabled. Finally press the OK button. That's it.
And while the services window is still open, I'd suggest disabling the following services:
*Windows Firewall (If you are running a 3rd party software firewall)
*Windows Error Reporting Service (Totally useless service)
-
Re: New "Deals and Savings" Thread
I have all of those items and you are right about a totally useless service.

If you're not sending/receiving faxes with your computer because it's not 1995 anymore, you can disable that too :p

Re: New "Deals and Savings" Thread
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboB...=Combo.2591358
For a mere $399.99 you get an i7-4790K Devil's Canyon CPU, EVGA Z97 Classified mobo (supports 4-way SLI), 8GB RAM and a game. According to Newegg, the normal cost on this combo is $680, so it's a pretty sweet deal. Ends at 11:59 PM PST on 11/26 (tonight!). May last longer depending on sales, but don't count on it.
*Edit: Sold out :( So they added another combo exactly the same but with an i7-4690k for $299. It sold out too.

New egg has Windows 10 Home OEM for $79.99 with code EMCKNAP67 today. I'm thinking of a new main rig so I instantly grabbed one.

Isn't windows 10 free from any other windows version? At least all my win 7 machines get spammed to update to win 10 for free.

That's what I was thinking! LOL Even my copy of 8.1 Pro with KMSpico got a free upgrade to 10 Pro. Not like I'm using it now anyway.
-
Re: New "Deals and Savings" Thread
It is only free as an upgrade if you have an existing license for Windows 7 or later. If you're building a new PC or have Vista and earlier you must purchase a new license for Windows 10.
-
Re: New "Deals and Savings" Thread
You can get win 7 for 50ish then update?

Where? All that's still being sold is Windows 7 Pro for several hundred.

Re: New "Deals and Savings" Thread
Ebay, I've used two different sellers. One mailed coa with install DVD/iso download. The other was download only. There's a Microsoft tool that'll make windows isos bootable for a thumb drive.
Sorry they're as low as 60$ for 64bit pro.
They are legit, you might have to validate twice though, this is common.

Re: New "Deals and Savings" Thread
I don't trust Ebay for stuff like that. I know some people who got burned big time on buying Windows OS from Ebay. Too many counterfeits floating around. To each their own though.
-
Re: New "Deals and Savings" Thread
You might change your mind when you see the near 5k sold in the first listing.
The two licences of windows 7 I've bought off eBay are both ready to update to windows 10. Im just lazy and tight on disk space.

Re: New "Deals and Savings" Thread
Call me stupid or paranoid if you want but I rather pay a reasonable premium of $79.99 (sale price) and take the safe route. Thats just me though so meh.
-
Re: New "Deals and Savings" Thread
Yeah now that I see the prices, and the convenience factor it might be less cost/time/stress.
a few of us have put some effort into avoiding the upgrade to hear someone wants to buy it was funny and inspired my initial reply.
And to be honest, I'm rather naive in avoiding it. Things like dx12, maybe something about multi non hetero genus GPUs working together, when I see those benefits kick in I'll have to update.

Re: New "Deals and Savings" Thread
I bought a Win 10 Pro through eBay and paid with Paypal. It was a bogus COA and I complained to eBay and Paypal. Ebay banned the seller and Paypal had my money back to me in a couple of days. It turned out to be nothing more than a little hiccup. I always use Paypal on eBay.

I bought some RAM a few days ago and saw that it is now on sale... I filed a Price Match claim and they approved it right away. You have two weeks to file.

Nice! More RAM = access to more of the high-RAM tasks at one time, or VMs!
