I ran an amd FX-8320E and scored big. As long as credit new doesn't have a like processor to compare it to, you're golden. I've tried using a new host with a same processor and it gave usual/low credits. Run one or two wus, if you're getting 50%+ in credits/cpu time you have a processor it doesn't recognize. Much lower than that and you're...in a word...screwed.
Don't waste your time with I7 3930Ks, 5650, or 5675 ... they've been used already :D
After you get your million under Windows w/ a processor CN doesn't know about then you can get about 500k more by running the same processor under Linux.
HERE is the original thread on the technique ... seems folks have forgotten about it.
EDIT: it isn't a case of whether credit new has seen your processor before ... it is has CN seen your processor running SINGLE THREADED!!!!!
Or 2 threaded? Or 3 threaded?, etc? I wonder if you get some decent results at each step until it's just wasting cores because they sit idle while other pieces complete. (A known flaw in the way the MT app works on Yafu.)

10m in PrimaB! That is my first all-CPU project to 10m, and 2nd 10m project.
Congrats Denim! That takes a LOT of crunching to accomplish on a CPU project!
