Re: SETI@Home: SETI@home hibernation
Did the quick math. No chance I can make 5m before the shut down. But, I will let all the WU's finish out that I have.

yea Al I know, just seems that every time I have brought up giving a notice to members I catch crap about spamming them. I think we need to give them a heads up, but not my decision.

How much too you need to get you to 5m? Something like 500k more? PM me your credentials, and I will help.

Same here! 18 years... probably half million hours of CPU and GPU time... can't say I'm sure where it all went :p

I think WCG would be a good one to steer that kind of crunching power to.

Re: SETI@Home: SETI@home hibernation
With the deadline fast approaching, I'd like to offer some GPU help to anyone who has a reachable MM goal in SETI for the next 10 days. Just PM me your login and I'm happy to help. I got mine to 15M and then backed off when I realized I couldn't get past that in time.
Like Zombie mentioned above, it was the original "Pre-BOINC" SETI crunching that got me into distributed computing. I was 17 up at university with a shiny new Pentium 200 MMX that I'd put together with all my saved up summer job money, and experiencing my first "real" always connected Internet. The university shared a single T1 pipe to the whole campus and we thought we'd gone to gamer heaven. Those were the days... :D
