True. But why not...
- We are not going anywhere in Collatz...Barely keeping in top 5
- We are getting canned in DCNET...Currently there are 8 (!) teams doing more than 5 Mill per day....And we are not one of them!
- We are #1 in MW...So far being outproduced by 3 team and MW does not favour CUDA...
Primegrid can:
- crunch on Ati
- Crunch on CUDA
- Crunch on CPU
- Been stable for the last 2-3 years...
Heck..I got 1.4 MILL points overthere done on CPU....A guy with a pair of GTX 580 can do in 1 DAY what took me 12 months!!

How about we just go for #1 at PG???
It could be like olītimes...
We be the little goldfish....And SG is out in front doing 3.3 MILL per day more than us....(+ we have Sic. behind us charging up the ranks) Currently SG. has the lead with 31 Mill (give or take)
Could be fun?
Sounds like fun. If somebody could walk me through getting my Ati's to run it, I'm in.

Re: Push, push, push! :-)
My understanding was that PPS Sieve could use CUDA natively (FERMIs require an app_info file). Which projects support ATI?

Just the one project: PPS Sieve. ATI currently requires app_info. CUDA doesn't.

I didn't say I was against it, just saying that it's not going to be easy and that you're going to have to convince a lot of people. S.G is lighting it up and won't give it up willingly. About the time we get it, Sic will blow by. Actually, they're on a pace to blow by us in a month.
I guess we'll find out in this next challenge how obtainable it is. Let's see how we do when we've got serious help. If we can't beat S.G in this next challenge, we may need to look elsewhere, somewhere with no GPU option.

So the app_info examples I have seen reference an _atiamd.exe (or something like that) yet I see no where to d/l that app. I need to doublecheck my ATI boxes but am pretty sure they do not have that exe. I didn't think that specifying an exe in an app_info results in that app being downloaded, you need to have it already, right? The Nvidia box I am in front of doesn't have a cuda exe either. It's a laptop with a Quadro FX 880M...will PPS Sieve run on this card? Maybe I have been loooking in the wrong places, but the details on PG GPU crunching seem to be scarce.

Re: Push, push, push! :-)
So I guess I should have been looking here instead of PG (silly me).....

Thank you Max for that excellent post...eventhough I completely missed it.

Re: Push, push, push! :-)
As soon as I hit 10M in Aqua, I will put those x64 CPUs back on PG. One of the servers that I have temporary use of is one of them, however, I am not sure how much longer I will have use of it and the other 2 (32bit). :(

Re: Push, push, push! :-)
With all due respect, I think the PG thing is cool, but I saw in another thread where Zombie showed PG only paid 59% of what DNETC pays for a 58xx series AMD card. With our RAC in sorry shape compared to SG, SIC, and LAF, I can't see where we can afford to drop either DNETC or MW.

I gave PG a try last night. It looks like only 1 of 4 gpu's is returning valid tasks (gpu 0). The other 3 are running about 200s longer and coming back invalid. Oh well... I'm back on MW for now.
At least I'm getting decent credit on MW.

Re: Push, push, push! :-)
Ok, got my 10M in Aqua so my 64 bit CPUs are on PG plus 2 Nvidia GPUs.
Maybe we should have a thread for this push in PG in the PG forum?

Re: Push, push, push! :-)
Yeah, that's probably best on the new push. So are we backing off QMC? I'm fully in for the WCG race for TM over the next couple weeks, but after that I'm open.

I do not think we can outproduce P3DN unless we can recruit more people to the cause. But since your are the Captain, you lead and I'll follow :)

Re: Push, push, push! :-)
Awww...shucks! I'm just a team player. But thanks for the kudos! I'm up for what everyone wants to do after the WCG Race. We've got a couple weeks to think about it and get it nailed down. Anything that is fun, pays decent and helps us on our way back to #1 BOINC status is good for me.
I agree we're not going to take QMC without a big fight. And rightly so. Even if we do it, will it really help? I'm thinking each day I put up about 4K there I could have had 4 or 5 times that on AQUA. Where do those thoughts come from? Sorry, I just can't help it! :D
Well, let me know what everyone wants to do for CPU stuff...I'm on WCG helping TM now until we switch to PG for the challenge.

I am in and will continue adding what resource I can until I hit my own personal milestone. We're pretty close to what P3DN is producing, and have out produced them (if only by a little) so far today. I'm not yet ready to throw in any towel here.
Give me another 10 days though, and then I probably will. :)
My next burst of additions was delayed until later next week. So if we're still holding it here, I know where they'll run for at least a little bit.
-
Re: Push, push, push! :-)
Ok, sounds good Mumps. I'm helping TM at WCG right now, but if you want me or anyone to switch back to QMC after we finish WCG, I'll be there with you!
-
Re: Push, push, push! :-)
I'm still pushing QMC, and will be for about 3.5 more days until I reach my 250k MM. Then I'm moving on. Probably to CAS.
-
Re: Push, push, push! :-)
Oops. What have I done now???
-
Re: Push, push, push! :-)
I think if we put some heat on this, we can take over first soon.

Give me a few days to catch up on AndrOINC and I'll up my Phenom on it.

Re: Push, push, push! :-)
is the push still going? was several months between posts above.

Re: Push, push, push! :-)
Were in need of a little more than 4 million stones, and with the difference in RAC it may take quite a while to get #1. I put 2 cores on it however, and I'll keep an eye on it. We don't want to lose out on overall points though. :(
-
Re: Push, push, push! :-)
i have 4 cores on it for who knows how long. might get my million then back to pg.
-
Re: Push, push, push! :-)
Under the RAC list were currently in 5th place, and 2nd in total points. Have the project guru's discussed if were going for individual projects after this challange or are we focusing on most points?

Re: Push, push, push! :-)
What ever the team wants, I have not been on QMC in a good while now.
-
Re: Push, push, push! :-)
Fogle you should post your question in the current Team Raid thread. The SIMAP Scramble has temporarily taken focus away from the next Raid but will get back on track soon and your posting would help to spur it along.
