Re: New "Deals and Savings" Thread
Got my Citi card statement today. I have $321 in available cash back sooooo. I couldn't help myself and pulled the trigger. Early Christmas present. (With the Mrs. permission of course :D)
I have no experience with the Diamond brand. How good is their reliability?

It would seem that eventually, most fans go bad on these AMD reference designs. But it usually takes a couple years, and you can always replace them. And also, by then, you are on to bigger and better GPUs anyway.

My 5970 is a Diamond brand and it has run flawlessly 24/7 for the last year. I've never had a problem with Diamond.

I have been a diamond owner since the S3 trio days and have always had good dealings with them.. all my ati/amd cards are from Diamond except the 4850x2 from saphire, only had to send one off due to the fan going bad that was the x800xl, usually turn arround on warranty 2-3 weeks, dont forget these have a 5 year warranty on the cards not to many folks are doing that anymore. Your milage may differ i dont ever push the overclocks to high and tipically never push the fans beyond 50% but thats just me.

Thanks for the reply. This card will not be in a case so I'm not expecting any heat issues. I usually run things at stock because my electric bill is already pretty ugly. :D

I have a Diamond 5870 that i bought when those cards first came out, however long ago that was. I have overclocked it up to 984MHz continuously for weeks without adjusting voltage, and even had it crammed into a mini tower case (with modifications to the case of course) with questionable airflow and it never let me down. They just seem to make some good quality equipment and then sit there quietly as they sell. In my experience, Diamond is good stuff.
