I just wanted this up for ref. It is unfinished but might save someone some time looking for something.

Wikipedia has a really good list as well. It has gflops and stream processors, speed, etc.

I think watts what be pretty cool to add. Then you could get a GFLOPS/WATT column and figure out your electric bill.
I've Added watts
@Admin Type People: Can we sticky this thread as well?
Mawell, Sir - thread has been stickied. ;)
Proud I made a sticky :)
I make stickies every day! =))
heres what my ATI 6970 says according to BOINC:
1/9/2012 9:57:14 PM | | ATI GPU 0: AMD Radeon HD 6900 series (Cayman) (CAL version 1.4.1646, 2048MB, 2016MB available, 7296 GFLOPS peak)
Oh I will, that's just for, uh, comparison sakes..... ;)
oh, I should mention, that above speed for my 6970 was with the GPU clocked at 950MHz
Here's my 7970 clocked at 1150 (with room to grow I believe):
1/14/2012 12:49:50 PM | | ATI GPU 0: ATI unknown (CAL version 1.4.1658, 3072MB, 3033MB available, 11551 GFLOPS peak)
Boinc 7.0.9 and higher will properly identify the 7970, earlier versions will show "unknown"
Is there a list anywhere that roughly pairs the card with points? As long as the project is consistent conclusions can be drawn between different cards.
I'm on a budget now (mortgage) and I'm losing points to a guy that I don't want to lose to, so I need to part together another system with a couple highly cost-effective GPUs.
Out of nowhere the guy behind me in Dirt has put up 22M in the last 28 days and with everything that I can to hold on to my Einstein lead he still has me by 400-500k ppd. I'm running a 470 on that along with some CPUs. After Dirt I would like to finish my badges and PG and then work on my GPUgrid badge.
OK - DiRT you are going to want either a 7970 (or similar ATI card) or NVidia side - GTX 570, etc... I think I would personally skip the 600 series because they are more expensive but don't really crunch any better. Do you have a target budget in mind?
I'm first going to see what I can dig out of my bins that still works and can work together. I'll probably need to put a few bucks into it to get something running. After that we'll see how much I can get for a kidney and then whatever is left over will go to student loans. On the walk down to the hospital the change I pick up will go to pay for food, but I should be able to donate blood to pay the electric bill. If I can make it to Mexico I might be able to bring back some pottery that I could sell for cash for GPUs for this project.
I gotcha. Understood. Well, for DiRT you probably want an nVidia card then, because the newer AMD/ATI cards are going to be expensive, and the older ones don't do well there.
See what you can cobble together, and then if you need something cheap but w/ decent DiRT credits, look for a GTX 460, 470 (it will put out serious heat, but really good credits as well) and GTX 560 Ti, 560 Ti 448 core, or GTX 570. That is in order of cheapest (least credits) to most expensive (best credits).
Hope that helps a little and let us know what you find to use! Someone on the team may have an older nVidia GPU to sell you for a good deal too - never know, it happens from time to time when someone wants to upgrade. :)
That's probably where I'm going. Craigslist has a bunch of cards, but I guess I was just looking for the best price point.
No matter how old the card is someone still wants $50. (8800GTS) And then there's a handful of 460s at $75.
I looked in the for sale and couldn't find anything there, so I'll just have to keep my eyes open.
OK, well we'll all put our heads together and find you something. I wouldn't got any lower than a GTX 460, and preferably a 465 or 470; if you go as low as the 400 series - this is for high output on DiRT crunching I mean. The 500 series is best, but that is certainly going to be more costly and we're looking for inexpensive here...
On the ATI side of things, you could get by with a 5870 or so, but the problem is they weren't really good at DiRT output until the 7900 series. It has to do with the architectural changes to the GPU style, and how it uses GPU compute commands.
Keep us in the loop on what you find!

I keep looking at the R9 Fury Nano - on paper it should be a huge cruncher. About 3 times as many GFLOPS per Watt as 7970 or 280X, more efficient than GTX 970 or 980... someone needs to try one out!
I was looking at them today. 600 isn't the worst price in the world but I have a 970 in the "micro" size and the cooler on it sucks. I'm sure the Nano will have heat issues.
That's my concern... it's set up for gaming or 4k HTPC usage, not 24/7 crunching.
AMD today dropped the price on Nano to $500 to put it in more direct competition with the GTX 980: http://www.anandtech.com/show/9938/a...r9-nano-to-499
Meh. If you really want to crunch on *anything* 24/7, you need to go for the third-party after-market Water-cooling solutions... Oh.. Wait... Never mind.. :))
