WCG 10th Birthday Challenge

For Nov 16th to Nov 25th 2014 SETI.Germany is arranging a challenge at World Community Grid on the occasion of the grids tenth birthday: the 10th Birthday Challenge.

Sounds like fun! Are we going to do it? I haven't hammered WCG in a while--it's been too long.

Meanwhile, 68 teams have joined at the the WCG Challenge.SETI.Germany would be very pleased if SETI.USA would participate.

It'll be a good one. We have alot of set-and-forget people there as well. But i guess everyone does...

I think we actually have an obligation, being one of the top 3 teams in Boinc, to be involved in these high profile challenges. Alas, as a new Admin here I'm not sure I have the credentials to enter the team. I'll check with F$ and DrPop.

I'm in. I have two blue (2 year) badges I need to bump up to at least the 5 year diamond badge.

The one requirement is that a team captain must register the team. Any volunteers? (JPM you can ignore that question if you choose)

Instructions:

1) Allow work from WCG
2) Crunch work from WCG
3) Report completed work to WCG
4) Repeat from step 2 until victorious :D

Ok, then it wasn't just me.

No way to tell who the captain is that I can see. There is a form to send a message to the team captain. So I sent a text message. Who ever gets it, you are the captain.

Okay, so Z's text ended up in the Team Seti.usa email. So someone with the Captains credentials (F$) will need to sign us up.

Years ago we set that email up to ping the Admins from an ID we made on WCG for the "Team Captain" because we knew there would be a revolving Admin here. We can dig up that ID and password and enter us. :o

Might be a good idea :) The front page needs some activity anyway :p

I ran UGM on my laptop and there is virtually no difference in time between Windows and Linux. However, the Linux WU request 40-50% higher credits than Windows. WCG awards the average of the 2 requested credits so you will get higher credits using Linux :D

I guess it's started, but I can't tell from the stats page yet.

They said they made a deal with the WCG folks. They are updated on the hour I think.
