New project: Minecraft@Home
https://minecraftathome.com/minecrafthome/
GPU only, for win and linux.
Also, it currently has the same problem as SRBase. A machine with multiple GPUs, all the tasks are running at the same time on just one of the GPUs. And the rest of the GPUs are idle.
How to work around this is here: https://minecraftathome.com/minecraf...2&postid=35#35

Re: New project: Minecraft@Home
They've dropped the credits from 42k/WU to 6k ... dang!
-
Re: New project: Minecraft@Home
And the two old AMD's I threw at it aren't getting any work. Oh well. :)
-
Re: New project: Minecraft@Home
My tasks have now gone from 6.3K to 7K.
Still no where near 42K, but I'll take it.
-
Re: New project: Minecraft@Home
Looks like they should have multi-GPU support very soon.

Re: New project: Minecraft@Home
Here's what I'm seeing:
GPU |
Avg Time |
PPD |
1050 Ti |
7000 |
80,000 |
GTX 970 |
4650 |
121,250 |
GTX 1660 Ti |
3757 |
150,000 |
GTX 1070 |
3315 |
170,000 |
GTX 1080 Ti |
2810 |
201,000 |
RTX 2080 Super |
2650 |
424,000 |
RTX 2080 Ti |
2612 |
440,000 |
Tesla P100 |
1918 |
587,000 |
I see at least one 2070 outperforming the 2080/2080S averages on this list... any ideas on GPU OC for this project? Memory or clock speed?
-
Re: New project: Minecraft@Home
So, are those your systems? Or samplings from the project? I have an Ubuntu 18.04.4 host running a 1050 TI with no overclock and it's running WU's in 6800 seconds for me. I also need to get my Dual 750TI system configured to exclude one of the GPU's, because it looks like it's been running two at a time on just one of the GPU's. As mentioned elsewhere. But it looks like even that card was running around 12,400 seconds on singles, and 19,200 seconds on duals.
No clues or hints for OC though. :)

Re: New project: Minecraft@Home
App is updated to allow multiple GPUs as well as other features.

Some are mine, some are sampled from project stats. One thing is for sure, it likes the Tesla P100!

So, I'll presume the seconds per WU on the 1070 is a typo? The PPD looks like maybe it's actually 3872 seconds? And how is the 1050TI at 7000 seconds avg doing better PPD than the 1080 TI at 3300 seconds? Unless the 1050TI is doing 2 WU's at a time?

So, for curiosity, I set my Ubuntu 1050TI to 2 WU's at a time and went from averaging 6800 sec/WU to 7080 sec/WU. So it didn't help me to go parallel. Just FYI.

Whoops... yes I had bad numbers on the 1070 and 1080 Ti. Fixed. Also had a x2 in my calcs for the 1050 Ti carried over from another project. :p

Re: New project: Minecraft@Home
I'm seeing work unit credits going from 3k to 6k (roughly the same compute time) and a handful around 70k and 96k

Re: New project: Minecraft@Home
Stats have exported again. Also, a new app.
-
Re: New project: Minecraft@Home
They finally have more work available. Get it quick if you want it.
Note: They have incredibly short settings that will force a task to self-error-out if it takes too long (based on the GPU stats). They do not take into account things like running multiple tasks per GPU to maximize utilization, or even allowing for a cache. So run only one task per GPU and with zero resource share. And this can also cause errors if you have multiple GPUs with very different performance/run times.

I just looked into their announcement channel on their discord server (I have no idea what any of this means):

@everyone

After 8 months of searching, we’ve finally found the infamous pack.png seed! This is just a quick announcement to let you guys know we found it. Turns out it was in the last 5% of seeds we searched with MC@Home (BOINC), which means it’s a good thing we didn’t give up on it. We’re not revealing the seed quite yet - we are currently working as fast as possible to slap together a proper reveal. This will happen soon™️
Most of all, many thanks to everyone who helped out with the project! We seriously wouldn’t have been able to do it without you. Special shoutout to those who helped contribute compute power through MC@Home (BOINC)- you made what would have taken thousands of hours to complete on a single computer into something which ran in only a few days. If you’re interested, users niraami and
zombie67 were lucky enough to be the ones whose computers processed the pack.png seed.
A short summary of how we did it has been written on the usual method document
https://packpng.com/method/. We’ll be writing up a more complete description of how we accomplished this seemingly impossible task shortly, but we wanted to make this quick announcement so you guys heard the good news sooner.
Thanks again for all the time, effort and computing power you guys dedicated to this project! I hope you’ll join us for more seed-crunching projects in the future (check out the painting project which is currently underway, available in #select-channels-here)

Which implies I'll languish here, 19K short of a milestone, until somebody suggests another spot to search for.
Congrats zombie67!

Re: New project: Minecraft@Home
They are taking applications for moderator for their boinc message boards. So I think that means there will be more work in the future.
Also, I made the news.

Re: New project: Minecraft@Home
More work is available now, and should last 2-3 weeks.

Re: New project: Minecraft@Home
Just a reminder, if it's been as long for you as it has for me, you should check your messages in BOINC. I had some saying the project changed it's security key and I would have to detach/re-attach to get any work.

And after that, it also complained about my Windows drivers...

Improvement with the app performance:

Maybe that means this latest batch won't last the predicted 60 days?

Re: New project: Minecraft@Home
Is anyone willing to help me out at Minecraft? I am in a race to be first to 100m, but I will need some help. PDW is out-producing me and I need another ~1m/day for ~7 days to win. I will gladly pay you back at the project of your choice.
-
Re: New project: Minecraft@Home
I currently only have 1 GPU, 1080Ti, so added it to your account. I lost 2 machines in the past month and unfortunately those have my other GPUs. :(

Re: New project: Minecraft@Home
I have a 1660ti I can throw at it.
How do I help?
Do you need to PM me a weak key or something?
-
Re: New project: Minecraft@Home
Send me your credentials. I have a GPU or 2 at my disposal.
-
Re: New project: Minecraft@Home
1660ti and two 970s on it.
VADER, KYLO, REY
That's all the GPUs I have.

Wow! This will take no time at all!

Re: New project: Minecraft@Home
FWIW, my 3080 is ~450 seconds, for comparison.
