    Larger hard drive suggestion?

I'm getting a little leary of the 1.5TB WD HDD that has all Kim's photos going out one of these days. I have an external drive backup right now, but thinking about going to a more elegant solution of two HDDS in RAID. The system files will remain on the 128GB SSD as that seems to be plenty for what we do.

Any suggestions on 3 or 4TB size drives to look at? I'll get 7200rpm drives at least, but they have all kinds of marketing crap and stuff now that I don’t really know whose are the best. These will mostly store photos and such...

WD Black is still the best imo

But it might be a better solution to get 2 drives of the same size and put them in RAID 1, which basically uses the 2nd HDD as a backup by mirroring everything on the first HDD onto it.

Optionally instead of RAID, there's Acronis True Image WD Edition. It's free

I have two WD Black 3T for my primary storage, but instead of using RAID 1 I'm using the mirroring setup from Windows Disk Management. I remember doing the research, there are pros and cons to both, it's up to you how you want to set it up!

I am a big fan of WD Black. The warranty is great and I have only had 1 failure which was replaced by WD. Acronis is very easy to use but try thr Macrium Reflex free. I like it better then Acronis, httpCs://www.macrium.com/reflectfree

Im a fan of SSD. Still have one from 2008. But for big storage, the cost is astronamical.

233 gig, 49 bucks here.... plenty of room for a cruncher

Newegg has a 4TB WD Black on sale today and tomorrow only: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...m-_-22-235-128

After you enter the promo code the price drops to $189.99 + free shipping, which is $10 cheaper than i could find anywhere on Amazon. Not sure if you're looking for a HDD this large though.

The WD Blues are much cheaper, but are only 5400 RPM and you said you wanted 7200. Also the WD Blacks have 5 year warranties while most any other HDD is only 2 or 3 years.

    Re: Larger hard drive suggestion?

Thanks for the heads up! Yeah, I definitely want to stay with the 7200 rpm drives, thanks. Been so long since I bought anything but small SSDs...
