I have stopped the work generation for Campaign #5. Thanks for all the hard work!

And that marks the end of BitCoinUtopia.

Time to figure out how to mine for myself. At least for a little bit, before I get rid of the ASICs because it's just not cost effective.

Learning to mine isn't difficult, but with the equipment most of us have it probably isn't cost effective either. I just looked at a bitcoin profitability calculator and with the equipment I have it will cost me $55.00 a month to mine. That's bitcoin - electric cost. I'll pass.

Think I'll eBay my ASICs. Started mining for myself again to see how it would go and it will take about 1 year to generate 0.02 bitcoin at the current difficulty. I'll pass as well.

Not sure if I want to say sorry to see you go, BU.... or good riddance, Bitcoin Utopia!

I appreciate the disruption to the status quo, and I had some fun racking up big 'stones, but what could/should have been a shot in the arm to BOINC turned out to be more divisive than productive, IMO. Now our investments in ASIC tech are useless, just as the BU opponents pointed out in the credits debate. Interesting four years, for sure!
