    lost processors

I have a problem that I haven't been able to solve. I have a dell t7500, it has 2 6 core CPU's with hyper threading for a total of 24 cores. I installed a clean copy of win 8.1. things all looked good, so I installed a clean copy of Boinc 7.14.2 x64. when I started Boinc it was only using 12 cores. I then went and made sure that the hyper-threading was turned on, which it was. I then checked both the local and web based prefs. to make sure they were at use 100% of CPU's, they are both at 100%. I then looked at the device manager to see how many processors it was showing, it shows 24. but Boinc is only using 12. I have turned hyper-threading off and then Boinc only runs 6 wu's. I have not uninstalled Boinc and reinstalled it. I don't know what else to try so thought I would get advice from the pro's. thanks for any help

What version of windows are you using? I think it has to be windows pro to use the 2nd processor.

It might also help if we can get a link to this system on one of its' projects. Sounds funny to me, and something I haven't run into before.

That is interesting. DHEP is reporting that host as 24 thread, but all other projects are calling it 12 thread.

The DHEP hostid is the oldest of the 4, so it's almost like you turned HT off after you added it to DHEP, but before you added it to the rest, starting 34 minutes later with GPUGrid. Really strange.

Everything I'm reading says that since windows xp all home/core versions can see both sockets but will only use one. You have to upgrade to a professional version to support using both processor sockets.

I can explain that. I loaded a cc-config with 24 threads and it loaded up 24 but when I removed it it went back to running 12. so while it shows 24 only 12 are running. sorry I should have said that earlier
