    Forum: Search doesn't work well

Many of the projects have very short names or acronyms, such as RNA, DNA, MW. Searching on those terms results in "The following words are either very common, too long, or too short and were not included in your search". Can something be done? I understand searching on a short string like "an" will result in WAY too many results. But searching on "mw" or "dna" will not. It shouldn't be limited by the number of characters, but rather by how common the combination is.

There are settings in vbulletin that can alter this.

Databases don't quite work by knowing how 'common' a keyword is though To figure that out, you have to do the initial search anyway..

The default is for 4char words and in fact the underlying default in mysql is actually 4 character words when using a fulltext search anyway, so changing this would not make a difference unless I reconfigured mysql at the server level.
