    ATI 4870 Help

    Hi Team,

I could use a little assistance. I have the Diamond Radeon HD 4870 that I received from DrPop's brother. I have flashed its BIOS using three different 4870 files all to no avail. So I'm hoping that anyone on the team with a unmodified 4870 BIOS please post a copy of it here in a zip or rar file? It has to be from a 4870 with 512MB DDR5 RAM.

You can grab the BIOS data using TechPowerUP's GPU-Z utility by clicking the button as shown in the pic below. GPU-Z will save the file with a name like RV770.bin or similar.

Any help would appreciated. Thanks in advance.

    I don't have one, so I can't comply.

But I have to ask the forehead smack question: did you try the file from here?

My card is down right now but I may have the original Asus disk with drivers etc on it. Could that help?

What is the error you're getting when trying to flash it, and why do you need to flash it?

I do not get an error. The card accepts the update. When I try to boot with this card in the system, the computer goes through the POST then the card shuts down and the system halts. That it. Nothing ever shows on the monitor screen.

The reason I am flashing is to try and fix the bad flash DrPop's brother got when he flashed the card.

Are you using software to flash the BIOS, or the more complicated method? Whatever you use, have you tried the other?
