With most images that I post, I either use direct links (which sometimes requires right-clicking an image (in FF) on a website and listing the image detail information) or hosting the image myself via imageshack.us.

Wait. If the source is a link, then it shows full size. But if it is uploaded here, then it shows as a thumbnail. So the difference in behavior is caused by the forum software? It should be the same behavior for both, regardless of the source. Who can fix this?

Personally, I think it should be full size for all.

We limit the size of attachments so the server doesn't get bloated full of gigs of pics. The best way is to host the picture externally and show it via link.

I am not talking about limiting the size of the attachment. I am talking about the forum showing a thumbnail instead of the full thing.

So what process are you using?

I use the BB Code "[img][/img]" tags with the URL in the middle since the URL can be from any site. So use the img tags and your done. For images you have uploaded as forum attachments, when you click on any image on your list, that image details page will have two urls at the bottom right hand corner. The first is a direct link and the second is BB Code.
