    Re: PrimeGrid: Year of the Snake Challenge Annoucement

    I got through the first set of wus on all my nvidia cards.

    The 570's completed 1 wu in 41,000 sec and haven't validated yet

    The 560ti completed one wu in 42,000 sec for 24,988 credits - the Stderr output is below:

    =====================

    All of the genefers I have run have failed at least once with my wingmen, some two and three times. In looking at the Stderr outputs for their work units, most seem to be caused by overclocking. Don't overclock and you should be fine. The temps I was concerned about have been a non issue this time around for me. None of my gpus are running over 70c with 70% fan.

    The other error I'm seeing is related to insufficient cuda version. Anything from 301.42 should be okay.

    I've now completed 8, only 1 has validated so far. Wingman errors are rampant. Good thing this is a long challenge.

    My system doesn't download tasks from that sub-project. The GPU was expected, I don't understand is why he doesn't download CPU but you are doing a good work.

    There is no quorum of 2 during the challenge, so validations should not take long...I missed that.

    Edit: 1 of the 570 wus validated at 25,000 credits.

    I'm giving it a go, but not sure if I'll be able to help much with an estimated 35,000 hours per work unit on cpu and my duel gtx 9800's will not run the project. adding what I can where I can.

    Let's hope the scheduler calculated that wrong.

    To be clear, the quorum *is* required for the actual BOINC credits that get published to the stats sites. You will not see credits until your wingman reports, and it validates with yours.

    The quorum is NOT required to get credits in the challenge. When you return a task, you get the challenge credits awarded. It does not matter what your wing man does.

    I hope so too... its running on a i7 960 at 3.8gh with 12gigs of ram.

    4 hours in and at 2% so maybe 8 days for 8 work units... ouch..
