    The Gratitude Post.

First I would like to thank the following team members for their kind generosity.

    Keith [SETI.USA]
    Mike029
    Joker
    DrPop
    Maxwell
    STMahlberg

I am very, very grateful, for all the hardware they have been kind enough to send my way.

    The Projects-
Keithinator: Everything other than case and psu came from (can you guess?) Keith.

    Blackie's Upgrade:
    (2) 8800GTs came from Keith in a generous deal for the pair.

    Seven-Of-Nine:
The 1st & 2nd MB came form Mike029 (unfortunately defective but proved useful as you will learn)
PSU and 1st video (video unfortunately came D.O.A) came from DrPop.
3rd MB, CPU and 2nd Video came form Joker.
Memory came from Keith. It was extra memory that he had sent me during the Keithinator build.

The above projects I have posted of before. So where do Maxwell and STM come into the picture you ask? Well.....

Allow me to begin with Maxwell.
Some may remember his Computer Hangs During SetUp thread. Maxwell sent me that system with the condition that if I could get the box to work it was mine to keep but it must be used to crunch for the team. Nothing wrong with that. Received it a few days before the new year and eventually discovered the problem. Capacitor Syndrome. Luckily I was able to salvage replacements form one of the boards Mike had sent me. So Mike it wasn't a total loss . With that Thor was born. And Thor is happily crunching away on PG and YoYo.

    Now to STM.
Nine days ago STM sent me a PM saying that I could have his pair of 4850s!!! I received them yesterday and to my amazement they still looked brand spanking new. These I installed in my main desktop as it is the only system that has three PCIe slots. Since I didn't have dummy plugs (I learned the hard way NEVER change desktop settings without all ATI's being connected to something) I had to use the multiple inputs on my monitor before they would enable. It took me a couple of hours to fix my goof. Anyhow I now have three 4850s in Nexus munching on WilkyWay wu's.

    And now for the pics!!!

    Here is Thor

    Here is Nexus's Upgrade

In that last pic, the cyan colored number 66 is SpeedFan monitoring my CPU temp.

Again I want to thank these guys for all that they have done to help with my projects.
    Gentlemen, take a bow.

Though PPS-Sieve (Cuda) only requires 0.07 of CPU its only getting 350~500 a day on YoYo. BUT, the GPU is getting 30K a day

Yep. That would be about what I'd expect...

    Re: The Gratitude Post.

Time to add to this thread.

Twaz the night b4 Christmas and all through the house errr... Let's try that again

First things first! THANK YOU Somanyroads!!!

Why, you may ask? Because about 3 weeks ago he sent me a PM asking me if I was interested in some hardware. Well, long story short, the end result of our communiques resulted in Dark Matter.... Which is the name I gave the system.

    The hardware
CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 (Kentsfield)
    MB: Gigabyte P43T-ES3G w/(x1) PCIe 16x slot
    RAM: (x2) G.SKILL Value 4GB DDR3-1333
GPU: ZOTAC ZT-40605-10L GeForce GT 430 (PCI)
    CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-U12P 120mm

    My On-Hand stuff
Case: Antec SX-1040BII SOHO ATX Tower
    PSU: (2nd try) Bitspower(?) 430W
(1st try) Tuniq 550W - Refused to power up. Now scrapped for parts
HDD: (3rd try) WD Caviar Blue 500GB (Pulled from my desktop. Desktop is not very happy atm.)
    (2nd try) Seagate 40GB IDE - Started losing sectors - 1,300+/3 hrs
(1st try) WD 40GB IDE - died in 2 hours
    Fans: (x4) 80mm, (x1) 120mm

Btw, I wasn't sure the Noctua would fit but it does! About 0.25" between the cooler and 80mm fans. And about the same between the top of the cooler and the case side panel.

note: Pic taken b4 first test.

I also wish to acknowledge the following for their help over the last 12 months

Thank you zombie67 for the (x2) HD 5870

Al McAdams for the Accelero Twin Turbo VGA Cooler and for the HD 5830 (Which will once repaired, make it to Mump's house)

Thank you BOK for the hardware to upgrade Blackie
CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 940
    MB: Asus M3N72-D
    RAM: Kingston DDR2-800 4x2GB

Thank you EmSti for the great deal on the HD 6970

And a Special Thank You goes out to Cruncher Pete, Mike029, Al McAdams, trigggl, Mumps, DrPop, zombie67, BOK, Crazybob's Son, Mad Matt, Beerdrinker, Mr. Hankey, Bryan and coronicus for your friendship and support.

Last but certainly not least, a Big Thank You to everyone for all your contributions, no matter the form, to Team SETI.USA

    Peace,
    F$

PS. If I have missed anyone (getting old sucks!) then I offer my apologizes. Retribution may be administered in the form of kicking an elk in the nuts.... (but be prepared to run, really really fast!)
