I wasn't laughing properly, when you were talking to me
I didn't find it funny, your story didn't do it for me
    False conversations, false conversations
And you thought that I was joking when I said you were a moron
When I said it I was smiling, so you thought that I was joking

It's easy, to try. It's easy, any time
We can talk, if we like
Let's forget it for the meantime
False conversations, a waste of time, false conversations
It's not interesting to have false conversations
You've stolen all your stories and I don't have the patience

It's easy, to try. It's easy, any time
We can talk, if we like
Let's forget it for the meantime
It's easy, to try. It's easy, any time
We can talk, if we like
Let's forget it for the meantime

You are a decent person and you have a function
So why do we say hello? It's just a fashion that we follow that we should be forgetting
But then you do it again, you do the same again
You are a decent person and you have a function
So why do we say hello? It's just a fasion that we follow that we should be forgetting
It's a fashion that we follow that we should be forgetting
It's a fashion that we follow that we should be forgetting
But then you do it again, you do the same again

It's easy, to try. It's easy, any time
We can talk, if we like
Let's forget it for the meantime
It's easy, to try. it's easy, any time
We can talk, if we like
Let's forget it for the meantime

    stickshifts and safetybelts,
bucket seats have all got to go.
when we're driving in the car,
it makes my baby seem so far.
i need you here with me,
not way over in a bucket seat.
i need you to be here with me,
not way over in a bucket seat.
i need you to be here with me,
not way over in a bucket seat.

but when we're driving in my malibu,
it's easy to get right next to you.
i say, "baby, scoot over, please."
and then she's right there next to me.
i need you here with me,
not way over in a bucket seat.
i need you to be here with me,
not way over in a bucket seat.

well a lot of good cars are japanese.
    but when we're driving far,
    i need my baby,
i need my baby next to me.

    well, stickshifts and safetybelts,

Re: What are you listening to?

Los Lobos is one of the most talented bands out there. Simply amazing. I saw them up at what used to be the Paul Masson winery in Saratoga, about 20 years ago. Damn, what a magnificent setting. Only room for several hundred at the time. They killed. Three encores, but not enough. See, this was just after La Bamba just came out. And they did the soundtrack for that, even though that wasn't their kinda stuff. So on the fourth encore, they finally played the damn song, just to make the crowd happy.

This particular song is of a memory of one of the members as a very young child at home. All the sights and smells, and a stained glass window.

    Hammer and a nail
    Hammer and a nail
    Saint behind the glass
Holds a hammer and a nail

    Baby in his arms
    Baby in his arms
    Saint behind the glass
Has a baby in his arms

    Watches me sleep
    Watches me sleep
    Saint behind the glass
    Watches me while I sleep

    Coffee in the air
    Coffee in the air
    Saint behind the glass
    Smells coffee in the air

    Curtains blowing 'round
    Curtains blowing 'round
    Saint behind the glass
    Sees the curtains blowing 'round

    Night upon my head
    Night upon my head
    Saint behind the glass
    Lays night upon my head

    Mother don't cry
    Mother don't cry
    Saint behind the glass
    Tells mother not to cry

Re: What are you listening to?

I said "Mama, he's crazy and he scares me
But I want him by my side
though he's wild and he's bad
    and sometimes just plain mad
I need him to keep me satisfied"

I said "Papa, don't cry cause it's alright
And I see you in some of his ways
Though he might not give me the life that you wanted
I'll love him the rest of my days"

    Misguided angel hangin' over me
Heart like a Gabriel, pure and white as ivory
Soul like a Lucifer, black and cold like a piece of lead
Misguided angel, love you 'til I'm dead

I said "Brother, you speak to me of passion
You said never to settle for nothing less
Well, it's in the way he walks,
it's in the way he talks
His smile, his anger and his kisses"

I said "Sister, don't you understand?
He's all I ever wanted in a man
I'm tired of sittin' around the T.V. every night
Hoping I'm finding a Mr. Right"

    Misguided angel hangin' over me
Heart like a Gabriel, pure and white as ivory
    Soul like a Lucifer
Black and cold like a piece of lead
Misguided angel, love you 'til I'm dead

He says "Baby, don't listen to what they say
There comes a time when you have to break away"
He says "Baby there are things we all cling to all our life
It's time to let them go and become my wife"

    Misguided angel hangin' over me
Heart like a Gabriel, pure and white as ivory
    Soul like a Lucifer
Black and cold like a piece of lead
Misguided angel, love you 'til I'm dead

    Her green plastic watering can
For her fake Chinese rubber plant
    In the fake plastic earth
That she bought from a rubber man
In a town full of rubber plans
    To get rid of itself

It wears her out, it wears her out
It wears her out, it wears her out

She lives with a broken man
    A cracked polystyrene man
    Who just crumbles and burns
    He used to do surgery
    For girls in the eighties
    But gravity always wins

It wears him out, it wears him out
It wears him out, it wears him out

She looks like the real thing
She tastes like the real thing
    My fake plastic love
But I can't help the feeling
I could blow through the ceiling
If I just turn and run

It wears me out, it wears me out
It wears me out, it wears me out

If I could be who you wanted
If I could be who you wanted all the time

    All the time...
    All the time...

Re: What are you listening to?

This has been bugging me for a while. And for the record, I am a HUGE Kings of Leon fan. And this doesn't change that.

    But check this out:

Guitar riff at 16 seconds in

    vs.

Guitar riff at the beginning of this old hit (after TFF sold out and went all pop! )
