Two friends, Ruth and Tori, are growing out their hair. They plan to cut it off at a certain point and donate it to a charity that makes wigs for people with cancer. Ruth's hair is already 30 centimeters long and grows at a constant rate of 1 centimeter per month. Tori's hair is 10 centimeters and growing at a speed of 3 centimeters per month. If the girls get their hair cut on a certain day, they will have exactly the same length to donate. How long will that take? How long will their hair be?

Laverne and Paco, the boy she was babysitting, were playing basketball together. Her score was 19 points, and his score was 10 points. Laverne wanted to make the game more fair, so she called a time-out and modified the rules a bit. Laverne explained that, for the rest of the game, she would get 1 point per basket, and Paco would get 10 points per basket. Then they played a bit longer. After the time-out, they both made the same number of baskets and ended up with a tied score. How many baskets did each person make after the time out? How many points did each person have at the end?
