Is this unquenchable curiosity? Why in the world would you want to use win10?

    Like Hell I Will.......

Be aware that you cannot get passed the above screen until you enter your M$ info. Okay folks, I'm done with Win10. M$ can take it and stick it were the sun don't shine.

microsoft skipping 9 and going to 10 was actually an april fools joke back in 2013, if you can believe it.

If you have installed the Windows 10 Technical Preview, you also gave permission to Microsoft to collect data of your usage and report that back to Microsoft as feedback to improve the product. Closer examination of the code shows that you could be sending data in real time as you type.

I had it on a new SSD and that and Boinc were the only thing on the computer. Going back to an older version.

    Re: Windows 10 Beta

For the hell of it I launched my Win10 VM. The OS brought me back to the system config screen, as I thought it would since I never completed it. This time around I disabled everything regarding feedback, personal email accounts, etc. allowing me to bypass the screen I posted above (post #13). Still, I have no intention of upgrading to Win10, ever. It is funny to note that Redmond may lowball the retail price of this POS...

TechAdvisor: Windows 10 release date, price, features...

According to Indonesian news site Detik, the president of Microsoft Indonesia, Andreas Diantoro, has confirmed that Windows 9 - now 10 - will be a free upgrade for all Windows 8 users.
But another source states that M$ may go the annual subscription route

    MSFT's Windows 10 Catch
Microsoft is very likely to introduce a subscription pricing model when it officially launches Windows 10, fundamentally changing how customers purchase its flagship product...
If Redmond adopts the latter approach, we could see the death of M$ before it's 2017 predicted demise discussed (Here)

Well, the-cruncher-formerly-known-as-Trigggl would be well ahead of the game if we all had to switch over to Linux...

But if M$ went down, that would be a huge problem for the local economy. I guess we'll just have to buy, sell, and smoke a lot more (legal) weed to deal with that if/when it arises.

Yeah, maybe dying is too strong a wish, errr word. If Windows became irrelevant by 2017 then Apple would most likely explode (stock market wise) with the massive increase in their user base. But that would be very bad for the everyone. Imagine Apple being the only OS producer in the retail market....

Ubuntu was on it's way to becoming a real threat to M$ & Apple, until they fubar'd the Desktop GUI with the Unity interface. Unity is to Ubuntu what Metro is to Windows. A bad idea. And has the same underlying intent. Allowing the software maker direct access to all your content, at or near real time. Anyhoot, with the introduction of Unity, many long time Ubuntu users, of the non tech savvy variety, jumped ship for other Linux distros like Mint (which I do like), PCLinuxOS, OpenSUSE, etc.

We will all just have to wait and see...
