What is a good program to check CPU temp while the system is running?

That one is a good utility but to get all the features you have to buy the Pro version. A good free tool is SpeedFan but it takes a little reading to understand configuration. The bonus with SpeedFan is that if your MB has the proper setup, you can use SF to control some or all of your case fans as well as your CPU fan. Another good utility is RealTemp though I have no personal experience with it.

If you have an MSI board use the Control Center program that came with the drivers disk. It'll display the CPU temp, and allow you to change fan speeds and over clock if you don't feel safe messing with the manual settings in the BIOS. I'm not a fan of Core Temp, didn't work very well on my build.

Just to set the record straight: That was a joke. All cores are running at full load and are a steady 71C.
