Yeah, but can you imagine what 28 AVX2 cores would do on SRBase - HT turned off.

Not to mention you could upgrade from 56 threads to 72...just saying

Like having 9 quad cores with HT in a single box...

Oh, and sometime around June you can upgrade to 88 threads...11 quad cores with HT in a single box...

STOP!!! My inner nerd is losing all self control. Let's see if I start collecting cans this weekend, how many cans would I need to make this build happen? How long would it take to collect enough cans to buy these two beauties?

It will fail due to memory bottleneck and function of the size you are LLRing. Probably you will only be running 80% of the cores.

These chips have dual memory controllers so I doubt there would be any bottleneck, especially in a 2P setup. I ran SRBase and never noticed any issues. I'm currently running 28 CEP2 beta tasks at WCG which are highly memory and HDD intensive. They're all running @ 99+% efficiency. I'll post a screen shot if anyone might be interested.

Don't forget memory bandwidth with each xeon is double regular CPUs

Just think about how much you would save though! Going to 56 threads in a single box for 200 Watts? Easy choice where cost of power comes in to play.
