I would recommend running Driver Sweeper 3.2.0 (Link) after uninstalling old drivers. And for added insurance run CCleaner (Link) after Driver Sweeper.
The machine is a Sabayon Linux box with a NVidia GTS 450 card that loops, it has been doing it now for 4 days at least. Figure it is an update that did it and will be resolved 'someday'.

But yes the ATI GPU card machine needs a different driver!
