This is one quote that can have many interpretations and in spite of the great man that write it, I cant agree with the most common interpretation and the reason is very simple, I believe that people can change.
No one can change the past but everyone can change the future, so for those that believe, as I do, that is never too late, I would prefer that the quote was:
